Areas of Expertise

Perinatal Mental Health

Are you experiencing depression or anxiety during pregnancy or after the birth of your child?  It is extremely common to feel this way around this time, but many women don't talk about it.  Not only do I have many hours of training in this area, but I have gone through the challenges of pregnancy, birth, and adjustment after having a child, so you are in the right hands!

Children & Adolescents

I have 12 years of experience working with children and adolescents, including experience serving as a Program Coordinator for a Children's Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.  I am trained in various evidenced-based practices to support children, teens, and their parents.

Depression, Anxiety, Marital & Couples issues, Adjustment Challenges, Grief & Loss, Trauma, and Eating Disorders

In my work with adults, I have helped many individuals get through the challenges that life has to offer.  My approach is collaborative and strength-based because I believe that every person is a person with their own unique strengths, and that the problem issues are not the whole picture!  I am trained in EMDR.

My Approach

I use a variety of interventions depending on the issue at hand.  That being said, my Post Modern, Strength-Based background helps me see issues and people through a positive lens.  I believe that the therapeutic relationship is extremely important and that any person seeking counseling should feel completely safe to share anything they are thinking or feeling.

I use EMDR, Narrative Therapy, Brief-Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and much more depending on the need of the individual or family.  If we work together, you are welcome to ask me more about the interventions used in our sessions.

I am also well trained in Reflective Practice Supervision.  I initially learned about the model in my work in community mental health and from a colleague who used the approach, and then I became interested to learn more so I attended a training series with Barbara Stroud and then furthered my experience working with the Welcome Baby program.
